What type of interpreter do you need?
Consecutive Interpreter
The speaker talks to an audience and makes frequent stops while an interpreter takes notes. After a long pause of several minutes, the interpreter must reproduce the sentences into the listener’s language. It is commonly used for small gathering or bilateral meeting.
Liaison Interpreter
Commonly used for travel trips where the client needs to be escorted in informal situations or to close a business deal. The interpreter acts as an intermediary between people who don’t speak the same language. The interpreter can shadow the client for several hours or all day as requested.
Simultaneous Interpreter
The interpreter works inside an isolated cabin. Audio, headset and microphones are needed. The interpreter simultaneously translates the speaker’s speech into the target languages. This is commonly used for large-scale events. The interpreter works in pairs and in several languages. This type of interpreting demands high levels of interpreting and concentration skills.
Whisper Interpreter
Similar to simultaneous interpreting but without the need for any equipment. The interpreter whispers to the listener in the target language. Not recommended for more than two people, this is often used in courtrooms or small gatherings.
